The Future Centre is a multi-culture and multi-skill community adopting a working method based on a continuous interaction among itself and with its network of Partners and interested parties.
A small group of researchers (the Core) physically present at the Future Centre in Venice is joined by a growing community of people to form the Future Centre World (the Community), which interfaces with the outside world (the Society).
The core has precise, well defined targets, and keeps challenging its progress and analyses with the community, disseminating in the end the global picture to the Society through presentations. The “product” of the core group is the definition and description of an ecosystem where telecommunications are but a component. The description of the ecosystems identifies their components, and their mutual relationships.
These, in turn, become part of the assessment of the ecosystem value and the way this value is aggregated in terms of value chains and clusters. Social impacts are also being considered as components in the ecosystem.
In all, six core groups are active, each formed by a research manager or senior researcher and three researchers, and each researcher interacts with three to four researchers at the different centres or institutions involved, thus establishing a network (the Community) of about one hundred experts.
